Contact Improvisation - Deepening the skills
with Benno Voorham and Sybrig Dokter

Contact Improvisation is essentially a duet form in which we dance with a partner in a playful and spontaneous way, while sustaining a physical point of contact. We move and we let ourselves being moved by our dancing partner from the sensorial information we perceive through touch.

Through different exercises and scores we will develop a more awakened and alert sense of our own potential in dancing as well as a greater awareness in the dances with others. Each day we will spend time on deepening our skills and understanding of Contact Improvisation through different exercises that are focused on the underlying principles, playing with physical forces such as gravity, levity, momentum and inertia. We will use different improvisational scores in which we can expect to be in physical contact at any moment and at the same time keeping a sense of our own direction in improvising.
