Àngels Margarit

Àngels Margarit is dedicated to dance in all its different aspects as dancer, teacher, choreographer, and exceptionally curator. In 1985 she created Àngels Margarit/cia.MUDANCES, with which she is performing at the moment and makes her own projects. Her works have developed in different fields and formats that include creations for stage space, specifics sites, improvisation, video dance, installations and also includes dance and new media research. Her works have enjoyed a good international projection and have been co-produced by and presented at festivals and programs worldwide. In the field of education, she has developed training programs and given courses and workshops in Spain, Europe, and America. A.Margarit from the very beginning has developed a highly personal style of creation becoming one of the referents in dance in our country. She has collaborated with numerous artists and promoted different projects around the creation, pedagogy and diffusion for the dance.

Throughout her career she has received numerous and prestigious national and international awards including the Grand Prix du Concours Chorégraphique de Bagnolet for Kolbebasar (France, 1988), the Premi Nacional de Dansa de Catalunya for Mudances (1986), Atzavara (1991) and Térbola (1999) or the Premi Ciutat de Barcelona d'Arts Escèniques for Corol•la (1993), among others. In 2010 she was awarded the Premio Nacional de Danza of the Ministerio de Cultura, in September 2013. From B to B, a collaboration with the dancer and choreographer Thomas Hauert, has been awarded by The Swiss Dance Awards 2013, as one of the four exceptional “Current Dance Works”. Capricis Her last creation received the Butaca award 2014 for the best dance performance.
